Israeli Censorship Delays Globes Reporter’s Economic Story Without Explanation

The Israeli military censorship has indefinitely delayed the publication of a news item by Globes' geopolitical reporter Din Shmuel Almas, reportedly without providing any security justification. This unusual move comes despite the story primarily involving economic matters rather than security concerns. Previously, censorship had also blocked Globes from reporting on a contract between Sivan Technologies and Elbit Systems, though that story was later approved for publication by other media outlets without notifying Globes.

Globes regularly cooperates with the censorship office and complies with its directives, including during wartime when details are often omitted or altered for national security reasons. However, in this case, the censorship has refused to specify which parts of the article are sensitive or to allow a more general version to be published. The delay is described as "without any security rationale that can be addressed."

Since the start of the current conflict, the volume of materials submitted to censorship has naturally increased, alongside growing complaints about its inconsistent policies, favoritism towards certain media outlets, and outdated approaches in the era of social media and foreign reporting. The censorship office has not responded to requests for comment. Globes emphasized its commitment to diverse, respectful discourse in line with its ethical code, filtering out any violent, racist, or inciting language automatically.
