Yossi Gispen Claims Otzma Yehudit Used His Copyrighted Slogan Without Permission

Otzma Yehudit launched its new election campaign on Monday with the slogan "Whoever Believes Is Not Afraid." Shortly after the launch, songwriter Yossi Gispen claimed the party used the phrase without his authorization. Gispen holds the copyright to the slogan following a Tel Aviv District Court ruling that recognized it as his original creation. He told journalist Josh Briner that no one from the party sought his approval and that he intends to investigate the matter further.

The court ruling came after Gispen sued Home Center for selling signs bearing the phrase. Home Center argued the slogan was based on Hasidic teachings, particularly those of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, but expert testimony confirmed the exact wording does not appear in those sources. Although the court recognized Gispen's rights, he did not receive financial compensation because Home Center was deemed an innocent infringer.

Otzma Yehudit stated the slogan reflects the party's path and the message led by its chairman, Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, emphasizing faith in their cause, determination against threats and pressures, and continued leadership in governance, security, and Jewish identity without fear.
