Shenkar and Aminach Redefine Beds for Modern Youth Living Spaces

A collaboration between Aminach, a leading furniture company, and Shenkar's Textile Design Department has produced innovative concepts redefining the traditional bed. Recognizing that for teenagers and young adults, beds serve multiple functions beyond sleep, such as seating, study areas, and social spaces, the project challenged students to rethink the bed’s role, feel, and textile use.

Four standout projects emerged from this initiative: Ariel Keren’s Visual Lightness, which creatively reimagines the bed’s base to appear light and storage-free; Dafna Schlinger and Einav Carmon’s PixelBed, designed to let youth customize their multifunctional bedroom space; Noa Shalom’s "Head in the Clouds," a soft, dreamy headboard evoking comfort and rest; and Liron Alter’s "Hosting in the Bedroom," which addresses the need for beds to accommodate socializing and hosting friends comfortably.

Miki Kider, head of Shenkar’s Textile Design Department, emphasized the integration of textile, material research, and industrial practicality, preparing students for real-world market demands. Aminach’s board member Tal Schwartz and CEO Ronen Bar-Shalom praised the fresh perspectives and practical innovation the students brought, highlighting how the projects tackled familiar bedroom challenges from unexpected angles.

The exhibition underscored how bedrooms have evolved into multifunctional spaces, especially for young people living in smaller homes. These designs reflect changing lifestyles, blending softness, durability, and adaptability to meet diverse needs. The partnership between Aminach and Shenkar provided an industrial framework while preserving the creative curiosity and tactile exploration that made the projects compelling.
