Islamic Jihad Agrees to Disarm as Part of Gaza Ceasefire Talks
Significant progress has been reported in Gaza as the Islamic Jihad movement has agreed to disarm amid ongoing discussions between Israel and Hamas about advancing to the second phase of the Trump plan. According to Al Arabiya, this agreement is part of broader efforts to end the recent escalation and establish new arrangements for Gaza's future, influenced by regional and international initiatives aimed at pushing both sides toward political and security solutions.
Palestinian sources told i24NEWS that Hamas leadership abroad issued an internal memo mandating the Gaza leadership to prepare for transferring various government resources to a technocratic committee expected to enter Gaza soon. This committee will operate according to a recently agreed roadmap formulated in Cairo. Meanwhile, Kan 11 reported that Israeli authorities anticipate implementing a 15-point document designed to end the Gaza conflict within days.
Under the agreement, Hamas is required to cease all military activities, including rearmament efforts, during the first two weeks, followed by the commencement of disarmament. Concurrently, Israel is also expected to halt hostilities in line with an agreement signed in October of the previous year. Hamas has communicated its consent to this framework to the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
