New Research Argues Temple Was Located in Southern Temple Mount, Not Under Dome of the Rock

Rabbi Barak Shargai, author of the book "Noyo Shel Olam," presents extensive research challenging the traditional identification of the Foundation Stone beneath the Dome of the Rock as the site of the Holy of Holies. According to Shargai, the First and Second Temples were situated in the southern part of the Temple Mount, in the open courtyard area opposite the Western Wall Plaza.

His research, compiled in a volume exceeding 800 pages, draws on rabbinic sources, historical records, and field investigations. The book includes numerous photographs, maps, and unique infrared images that, Shargai claims, reveal remnants of the Temple beneath the Temple Mount's surface.

Alongside the book's release, Shargai delivered a lecture to members of the "Torah Historical Discussions" community, founded by Israel Shapira. In his talk, he disputed the conventional "Foundation Stone theory," critiquing it as a "fake method," and offered what he considers the correct interpretation of the renowned statements by Rabbi David ben Solomon ibn Abi Zimra (Radbaz) on the subject.

The book also explores the history of the Temple Mount after the destruction of the Temple, detailing how the Temple's location was concealed over generations. Shargai supports his thesis with historical, rabbinic, and archaeological evidence, aiming to present a comprehensive new perspective on the Temple's true location.
