Israeli Labor Federation Chair’s Dismissal Delayed by Labor Court Ruling

The Israeli Labor Federation's elected body is set to decide on Sunday whether to remove Alexandra Krushinsky from her position as chair of the Histadrut Ma'ar faction. However, the Labor Court in Bat Yam has ordered that the dismissal not be executed before August 5. This follows a decision last week by Arnon Bar-David, the general chair of the Histadrut, to dismiss Krushinsky, citing serious disagreements and alleging she was neglecting her duties. Krushinsky and her lawyer, Ilan Bombach, have denied these claims and filed a petition with the Labor Court to halt the dismissal process. The court issued an injunction just before the Sabbath, preventing the dismissal from taking effect immediately, and will hold a hearing on the legality of the dismissal if the decision is approved by the Histadrut's elected body by August 5. Bar-David stated this is the first time he has had to initiate such a dismissal, emphasizing the severity of the situation and his belief that Krushinsky can no longer continue in her role.
