Rabbi Calls for Respectful Conduct on Public Buses Reflecting Royal Jewish Dignity

A growing issue has been observed in public spaces, particularly on buses traveling between cities or neighborhoods, where groups of young men and women, including yeshiva and seminary students, speak loudly, imposing their noise on fellow passengers. This behavior, described as disrespectful, calls for immediate correction and reinforcement of proper conduct. The rabbi emphasizes that Jewish identity entails living with a sense of dignity and refinement, as expressed in the Torah’s declaration “You are children to the Lord your God,” which obligates Jews to behave as "sons of kings."

Drawing on classical Jewish sources, including Rashi and the Vilna Gaon, the rabbi explains that this dignity extends beyond appearance to speech and public behavior. He recounts teachings that encourage individuals to consider how they would act if in the presence of great spiritual leaders, using this as a test for appropriate conduct.
