Elite Israeli Security Program 'KODEKOD' Reveals Role in Major Tehran-Israel Operation

Over a year has passed since the dramatic nighttime alarm that marked the launch of Operation 'Im K'lev' (With a Dog), described as the most significant and daring Israeli security operation in the country's 77-year history. On the night of 17 Sivan 5785 (June 2025), while most Israelis slept, top intelligence personnel worked tirelessly behind the scenes, analyzing layers of data, satellite images, and communications to execute the mission.

Among the hundreds of intelligence operatives active that night, standout performers were students from the elite KODEKOD program, who demonstrated exceptional operational capabilities. These students, drawn from various specialized tracks, contributed to real-time analysis of aerial and satellite imagery, language and data decryption, network security, and electronic systems management. For many, this was their first true exposure to high-level security work.

KODEKOD offers a unique training model combining advanced professional education, a protected religious framework, and practical internships within leading Israeli defense units. Graduates of classified units are highly sought after in the job market, commanding significantly higher starting salaries due to their hands-on experience with complex projects and advanced technologies under operational pressure.

Currently, KODEKOD is enrolling its seventh cohort, offering five distinct tracks: software engineering (with internships in Unit 8200), electronic engineering (Units 81 and HAT'L), networks and IT (C4I Corps), geo-intelligence (Unit 9900), and language and data processing (Unit 8200). New options include a programming class with service in Jerusalem, a Haifa-based programming track with a naval internship, and an evening study program allowing students to maintain daily routines.

The program has become a prestigious gateway for ultra-Orthodox men to integrate into Israel's security and high-tech sectors, combining professional excellence with a strong religious environment. Placements for recent cohorts are already underway in the Israel Security Agency and other key units. KODEKOD continues to expand, offering new opportunities for graduates to contribute to Israel's national security while advancing their careers.
