Qatari mediation advances Iran talks, but Revolutionary Guards chief blocks final approval
A major breakthrough in negotiations with Iran was reported on Wednesday in Tehran, where Qatari representatives were present. According to sources cited by News 14, the initial terms of the deal were worked out by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
The process then hit a hurdle when Ahmad Vahidi, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, objected to part of the package discussed at the meeting. Vahidi insisted that the final decision be sent for approval to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not yet agreed to the emerging terms.
The report says the agreement has still not been finalized, and the entire deal remains open. Despite the progress made in Tehran, the next step depends on whether the Supreme Leader signs off, leaving the future of the talks uncertain and vulnerable to collapse at any moment.
