Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Witzen Opposes Foreign Security Control in Gaza, Calls for Full Israeli Authority

Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Witzen, father of Amichai Witzen who was killed in battle at Kerem Shalom during Sukkot 5784, strongly opposes the recent Israeli Security Cabinet decision regarding Gaza. Speaking as a member of the Valor Forum and rabbi of the Psagot settlement, he demands full Israeli security control over the Gaza Strip to ensure the safety of southern Israeli communities. Rabbi Witzen emphasized that no foreign entity should hold security authority in Gaza, stating, "We will not allow any security rule by any foreign factor."

He framed this stance as a matter of Zionist values and responsibility, highlighting that the land of Israel is meant to bring life only when inhabited by its people. Rabbi Witzen expressed that his son's death obligates Israel to change its security approach toward Gaza and prevent any return to non-Israeli control. He warned that without full Israeli control, the families of fallen soldiers like his son would not find peace, as Gaza remains close to Israeli homes and part of their shared land.

They call on the Israeli government to adopt a firm security policy that honors the sacrifices of soldiers and protects Israeli citizens in the south.
