Egypt Denies Entry to Terrorist Deported by Israel Over Rabbi Assassination Plot

Salah Hamouri, a French-Palestinian dual citizen convicted in a plea deal for offenses including membership in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and involvement in a plot to assassinate Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, was deported from Israel to France on December 18, 2022, after losing his Jerusalem residency status. Following his deportation, Egypt refused to allow Hamouri to enter its territory. The Israeli government had stripped Hamouri of his residency rights prior to his expulsion.
