Israeli Soldier Dismissed After Vandalizing South Lebanon Army Memorial in Metula

An Israeli soldier serving in a permanent position was dismissed from the Israel Defense Forces after being involved in vandalizing the South Lebanon Army (SLA) memorial in Metula about three weeks ago. According to a report by Kan News on Monday evening, another soldier involved in the incident was also tried for his actions.

The memorial, established by the Ministry of Defense and inaugurated approximately five years ago, honors SLA members residing in Israel. Security camera footage revealed that two soldiers serving in the area deliberately broke the Lebanese flag displayed at the site. The flag was placed there to symbolize the connection between Israel and the Lebanese who assisted in Israel's security over the years.

The Lebanese flag was torn down during the incident but has since been restored to its place at the memorial within the last 24 hours. The disciplinary process against those involved has now been completed.
