Mother of Soldier Whose Weapon Was Seized Criticizes IDF Rules of Engagement

Sarah Shulman, mother of a soldier whose weapon was seized by terrorists over the weekend in the Hebron area, spoke out against the Israeli military's rules of engagement in an interview on Channel 14. She claimed her son was not allowed to defend himself and ultimately feared using his weapon, which could have protected him. Shulman urged a national shift in approach, calling for stronger deterrence and proactive measures in the West Bank similar to those in northern Israel and the Gaza border areas.

The incident occurred when four terrorists took the weapon from a soldier on leave near Mount Hebron. Following the event, IDF forces conducted a search, recovered the weapon, and arrested two suspects. Subsequently, Duvdevan Unit operatives arrested a third terrorist involved in the weapon seizure in the Yatta area of the Judea Division.

Shulman emphasized the need for decisive action against threats, including entering villages to conduct thorough operations to prevent future attacks. She criticized the current stance as weak and fearful, advocating for soldiers to feel empowered to confront enemies confidently. The military continues to enforce its rules of engagement amid ongoing security challenges in the West Bank.
