Maccabi Health Fund Restricts LGBTQ Parents' Access to Children's Medical Records Without Notice

LGBTQ parents have reported that Maccabi Health Fund blocked their access to their children's medical records without any prior notification. Maccabi explained that this change results from Amendment 13 to the Privacy Protection Law, which prohibits the health fund from disclosing medical information of minors to individuals not registered as parents in the population registry. Parents who inquired with Maccabi representatives were told that following a "version update" and compliance with the privacy law, access was limited exclusively to the biological parent. Subsequently, a Maccabi representative clarified that parents must visit a branch to re-register and prove their parental status to regain access to their children's medical files.
