Neta Barzilai to speak about living beside post-trauma at national conference
Singer and songwriter Neta Barzilai will take part in a personal conversation with reporter Gal Ganot at the "Post-Traumatic State" conference, where she will speak about the complexities of life alongside her former partner Guy, who is living with post-trauma. Barzilai said, "Post-trauma is not one person's story. It affects whole circles of people who love, support and accompany them," adding that as a society, understanding this better can improve the response for everyone living next to this "invisible injury."
Barzilai said her willingness to share her personal upheaval is also reflected in songs from her new album, "Serenade," which will be released at Shuni on July 16. She said, "My goal is not to talk about personal hardship, but to raise awareness that post-trauma is a reality that affects entire families, and that we all need to better understand how to support those dealing with it in all the circles affected."
The conference will examine the effects of post-trauma on the workplace, family coping, burnout among caregivers and relatives, and the challenges facing the health system, employers and Israeli society as a whole. Alongside professional panels, there will also be personal interviews and first-hand testimonies. The event, organized by Yedioth Ahronoth Group together with the Histadrut, will take place on June 15 and be hosted by Sharon Kidon.
It will be streamed live on ynet's website and app and covered extensively by ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth. Other participants include Roy Yaakov, Dr. Gilad Bodenheimer, Prof. Yoram Yovell, Itzik Saidian, Eli Gabai, Attorney Idan Kaliman, Dr. Lilach Rachamim, Attorney Irit Porian Weizman, Adam Blumberg, Suheir Daksa, Elinor Gaz, Ronen Shalev and Inbal Hermony.
