Mother Says Six-Year-Old Was Beaten in Ashkelon Kindergarten After Months of Warnings
A six-year-old boy was allegedly punched by other children at a kindergarten in Ashkelon this week, and his mother says the staff ignored repeated warnings about violence for months. The child was taken to the emergency room after the attack and was treated for vomiting and injuries, according to the family.
The mother, Moran Dror, said the assaults were part of a longer pattern throughout the school year. She said she repeatedly alerted the staff, asked for intervention, and was told the matter was being handled, but “nothing changed.” Dror said the attack left her son frightened and in need of medical care, adding that he has asthma and was already dealing with fears linked to the security situation.
Dror also accused the kindergarten of failing to update her promptly after the incident. “This is a failure that must be investigated to the end,” she said. Police said they opened an investigation after a complaint was filed. The Education Ministry said the case is being handled by the Southern District together with Ashkelon municipality, and that extra staff have been added to the kindergarten.
