Democratic Candidate Moran Zar Katzenstein Cancels Dialogue Event With MK Zvi Sukkot

Moran Zar Katzenstein, a candidate from the Democratic Party, announced she was canceling her participation in a public event after learning it was intended as a "dialogue, listening, and reconciliation" session with MK Zvi Sukkot, chairman of the Education Committee. Zar Katzenstein stated she could not engage in such a format with Sukkot, explaining in a post on X that she initially thought the event would be a political confrontation but later realized it aimed to create a "shared language." She emphasized that there is a difference between confronting fascism and sitting in a reconciliation circle, asserting that "with fascists, you do not seek common language but draw a red line," which led to her withdrawal.

MK Zvi Sukkot responded by questioning how many times Zar Katzenstein had tried to schedule meetings with him as Education Committee chair or approached him for discussions in the hallway, implying she had previously sought dialogue. He accused her of joining a camp that only talks to like-minded people and dismissed her cancellation as "clownery."

Sukkot’s associates noted that Zar Katzenstein’s reaction highlights an alleged contradiction between her past attempts to engage with him professionally within the Education Committee and her current refusal to participate in an event designed to foster dialogue among differing viewpoints.
