The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it struck and killed Nihad Riyad Abd Alrahim Arouq, a Hamas squad commander, in northern Gaza Strip on Thursday. Arouq led a squad in Hamas's Shati Brigade and participated in the October 7 massacre when militants infiltrated Israeli territory. Throughout the ongoing conflict and recently, he was involved in training terrorists and planning attacks against Israeli military forces and civilians. The IDF operation targeted him as part of efforts to dismantle Hamas's operational capabilities following the October 7 attacks.
