Lori Omer, 29, known online as "Lori the Plasterer," transformed a side job painting houses into a successful renovation business after a viral TikTok video five years ago. Initially working as a security guard and seeking extra income, Lori posted a video advertising a room painting for 700 shekels, which unexpectedly gained massive attention and secured her projects months in advance.

From childhood, Lori was fascinated by construction tools and work, but societal norms never made her consider it a viable career. Over time, her passion grew as she spent hours in hardware stores and accumulated tools, realizing her hobby was becoming a profession. Despite support from family and friends, Lori faced sexist comments online, such as "go back to the kitchen," which only motivated her to deepen her expertise by studying materials, standards, and chemistry to prove her professionalism.

Lori employs both men and women and feels her gender does not affect her work environment. However, she encounters gender bias in hardware stores, where men often unsolicitedly advise her on materials, sometimes incorrectly, attempting to assert dominance.
