Itzik Lari, chairman of Mifal HaPais, outlined his vision for the organization during the National Economic Conference hosted by Calcalist, Bank Leumi, and Clal. Taking office amid one of Israel's most challenging periods, Lari emphasized the need for Mifal HaPais to become a central and coordinating force to build a stronger, safer, and more equitable Israeli society. He highlighted the widening gaps between Israel's center and periphery, worsened by the ongoing war, which has made it difficult for weaker local authorities to utilize available budgets effectively.

Lari stressed that after 75 years of operation, Mifal HaPais must focus not only on what it builds but also on the kind of society it aims to create. He underscored the importance of providing equal opportunities for every child in Israel, ensuring that their birthplace does not limit their potential, calling this a clear national interest. He also pointed to the need to expand access to technological education tracks in peripheral areas and among the Haredi community, noting that military service often predicts future success and that more success stories should become the norm.

Reflecting on the efficient performance of local authorities during the war, Lari noted that quality of life is determined by local government, which interacts with citizens daily through schools, public spaces, and cultural events. Recognizing disparities between strong and weak municipalities, Mifal HaPais will not only provide funding but also actively support local authorities throughout project selection, planning, and construction stages.

Looking ahead five years, Lari envisions many more children from peripheral regions integrating into elite military tracks, academia, and the high-tech industry. He called for transforming the periphery from society's margins into a growth engine, describing this as an economic strategy and a vital national interest for Israel.
