Wolt Benefits Surprises Marketing Leaders With New Employee Meal Budget Solution
At the MAD conference hosted by Globes, Dor Gavizon, Head of Wolt Benefits, announced a new initiative by giving each attendee 150 shekels to spend on Wolt, encouraging support for office teams and employees staying at work. This gesture introduced Wolt Benefits, a service that allows employers to allocate monthly or daily meal budgets directly through the Wolt app. Gavizon has led this service for the past two years, which includes dedicated business customer support and attractive value propositions.
During his presentation, Gavizon shared insights into employee consumption habits, noting that as more people return to the office, there is a growing need for shared meals, with 30% of orders being group orders. Wednesdays see the highest volume of shared meal orders. Additionally, about 40% of orders are repeat purchases from the same three or four restaurants, indicating employees and employers prefer familiar choices over exploring new options.
Contrary to expectations that healthier options like salads or tofu would dominate, the top ordered meals were shawarma, hamburgers, and traditional Israeli dishes, suggesting employees seek comfort and enjoyment during lunch rather than dieting. Gavizon also highlighted two other trends: once a week, some employees skip lunch, and there is a clear correlation between the progression of the workweek and the frequency of meal orders, a pattern he calls the "box index." He explained that while some employees bring homemade meals or food from family initially, they tend to return to ordering through Wolt as the week advances.
