Former Bnei Yehuda Player Pedro Campus Falls Victim to Egyptian Football Scam

Pedro Campus, a former Bnei Yehuda winger and Chilean youth international, revealed he was deceived by a sophisticated scam involving a fake contract to play for an Egyptian club. The 26-year-old Campus, who was part of Chile's U17 World Cup squad in 2017, said the deal was nearly finalized and his family was prepared to relocate when he discovered the contract was fraudulent. He did not disclose whether he made any payments to intermediaries but described how the forged contract appeared legitimate, including his and the club's signatures, salary details, and visa arrangements.

Campus did not name the Egyptian club or the individuals involved but said the scam was orchestrated by a supposed club intermediary and a player agent. He also revealed that his brother was similarly scammed by a different Egyptian team. Both lost opportunities as the transfer window closed, leaving Campus without a club. After struggling to establish himself in senior football following his youth success, Campus played for Bnei Yehuda in the 2020/21 season, making 20 appearances without scoring, and the club was relegated that year.

Following the Egyptian scam, Campus briefly played in Mongolia and then in Brazil's lower leagues with Kastaniel. Currently a free agent, he is cautious about future offers from Egypt. Campus described 2025 as a difficult year and expressed frustration over the incident, which he said was unprecedented in his career.
