Israeli Government Ministries Ordered to Pay Nearly One Million Shekels in Freedom of Information Cases
Israeli government ministries have been ordered to pay a total of 1,189,323 shekels in legal expenses related to freedom of information cases. In contrast, the government was awarded only 56,050 shekels in such cases. Shlomi Bilbaski, head of the Government Freedom of Information Unit at the Ministry of Justice, emphasized the importance of the right to information from authorities as a fundamental democratic principle. He urged government ministries to completely eliminate the problematic practice of failing to respond to information requests.
