Tensions Escalate in Gulf as Kuwait Reports Air Defense Alerts and Explosions Hit Iran's Qeshm Island

Kuwait's military reported active defense operations against hostile aerial targets within its airspace on Tuesday, warning residents about the sounds of explosions. Simultaneously, explosions were reported on Qeshm Island in southern Iran. These incidents follow satellite imagery revealing damage to American military facilities in Qatar and Bahrain, attributed to Iranian strikes. The images showed destruction at a logistics warehouse in Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar and command centers in bases located in Bahrain and Kuwait.

Further reports indicated Iranian attacks on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz on the Omani side. In response, U.S. forces targeted Revolutionary Guard boats near Kish Island in the strait. This escalation comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, though he later clarified via social media that the waterway remains open for free navigation by all ships worldwide, crediting the U.S. military's strength.

Trump emphasized that the new policy does not impose fees on all ships but focuses on a full maritime blockade targeting vessels arriving at or departing from Iranian ports or carrying Iranian-related cargo. In his social media post, he sharply criticized Iran's leadership as "deceptive, violent, and malicious," warning that their conduct is leading the country toward "total destruction." Trump also highlighted that oil flows are at unprecedented levels and asserted that the era of Iran causing mass casualties, including 52,000 protesters, is over.
