IDF on rabbis' letter: We need every soldier, and men and women will not serve together in the same unit
In response to a letter from yeshiva heads in the hesder program, who said they would not send their students to the Armored Corps because of the recruitment of female combat soldiers, the IDF Spokesperson said that "after about two and a half years of intense war, the burden on the reserve system has increased significantly, and the IDF needs every soldier, male and female. As the army of the people, the IDF attaches supreme importance to integrating all populations. The High Court did not instruct the IDF to recruit female soldiers to the Armored Corps, but rather instructed it to carry out the planned pilot on the matter." According to the statement, "the pilot is a first trial to assess future possibilities. Among all the options being examined, there is no alternative in which men and women serve together in the same framework."
