Court Allows Publication of Testimony by Key Witness Linked to Nir Hefetz in Netanyahu Trial
The district court judges overseeing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trial in the so-called 'thousand cases' permitted the publication on Monday that a witness known as the 'close associate' of Nir Hefetz testified for the first time yesterday. Hefetz, Netanyahu's former senior advisor, is a state witness in Case 4000. The testimony took place behind closed doors and mainly concerned the investigation procedures related to the witness herself. Due to a publication ban, the judges did not disclose further details.
It was previously revealed that this woman, connected to Hefetz but unrelated to the Case 4000 investigation, was interrogated in an attempt to pressure Hefetz into cooperating with investigators. About a year and a half ago, Hefetz filed a lawsuit demanding over 10 million shekels from the police and prosecution, citing harsh detention and interrogation conditions. Hefetz claimed investigators pressured him intensely to sign a state witness agreement, including threats that his family would be harmed, stating, "I had to provide a version - or they would destroy my family. They said my children would not speak to me."
