IDF Central Command Chief Emphasizes Spiritual Victory Alongside Military Success in Gaza Conflict
At a ceremony honoring the achievements of Division 99 across multiple combat zones, Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot stressed that Israel must win not only militarily but also spiritually by maintaining unity, humanity, and the righteousness of its cause. The event, held last Wednesday, marked the first heritage evening of Division 99, commemorating 1,000 days since the outbreak of the "Sword of Iron" war. It showcased the division's operational activities, challenges, and accomplishments since the war began.
Established in 2020 as a multi-theater division to adapt to evolving battlefield challenges, Division 99 and its brigades have been continuously active since the war's onset. Reservist commanders and soldiers have repeatedly returned to combat cycles. The ceremony also honored fallen soldiers from the division and launched a heritage book documenting its operations, milestones, and key personnel since the conflict started.
Major General Blot highlighted, "Division 99 has left its mark on every front... It is not enough to win on seven fronts, we are winning, make no mistake, we must also win on the spiritual level: to remain human, united, and always remember the justice of our cause. Our duty is to win the destiny covenant and remind ourselves daily why we fight, to establish a nation and state as envisioned by the prophets of Israel, a light unto the nations and a model society."
Division Commander Brigadier General Yoav Broner reflected on his encounters with troops in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank, praising their dedication and readiness despite challenges. He described witnessing the lights in southern Israeli communities and the smiling children, reinforcing the division's purpose.
Currently, Division 99 is engaged in its fifth deployment in the Gaza Strip, positioned along the "Yellow Line" as the first defense line protecting western Negev communities. It continues offensive operations to clear terror infrastructure above and below ground, neutralize threats, and safeguard Israeli civilians.
