Shas Party Secures Additional 10 Million Shekels for Food Aid to Needy Families

The Knesset Finance Committee approved an additional budget allocation of approximately 10 million shekels to the Welfare Ministry for distributing food baskets to families in need. This funding, sourced from coalition funds provided by the Shas party, supplements the existing 46 million shekels already allocated in the state budget for this purpose. The increase aims to strengthen the operations of food aid organizations across Israel and help them meet the rising demand for assistance among economically distressed families.

Former Welfare Minister and Knesset member Yaakov Margi welcomed the budget approval, highlighting its broad social significance. He stated that the additional funds will enable these organizations to expand their reach and support thousands more families requiring aid. Margi also expressed gratitude to Shas chairman Aryeh Deri for advancing the initiative and affirmed that the party will continue advocating for vulnerable populations and enhancing the social safety net for families in need.
