Mexican Family Opens Authentic Street Taco Spot in Ra'anana

A new Mexican street food eatery called Los Tacos has opened in central Ra'anana, Israel, bringing an authentic taste of Mexico City to the area. The restaurant was founded by Sarah and Yonatan Obsiovich, a family who immigrated from Mexico City seven years ago, and their four children all contribute to the operation. Los Tacos stands out for making fresh tortillas on-site using corn flour imported directly from Mexico and a tortilla machine also brought from there.

The menu features traditional Mexican street food items rarely found in Israel, such as pickled cactus salad, lengua (braised beef tongue), Mexican asado called suadero, al pastor (Mexican shawarma with pineapple), and an Arabic-style sausage called Salchicha Arabe. Vegan options include tacos with mushrooms or frijoles (bean stew) and rice. Each dish is served with various salsas, including salsa banero, salsa verde, salsa roja, and guacamole with onion, cilantro, radish, and cucumber salad. Portions come as two tacos per serving, priced between 17 and 22 shekels each, with meal combos costing 64 shekels and a taco with Corona beer for 74 shekels.

The restaurant also offers traditional Mexican beverages such as jamaica (hibiscus water), horchata (rice water), tamarind margaritas, and a Corona beer cocktail called michelada. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with colorful decorations and lively music, recreates the feeling of Mexico City's street food culture. Los Tacos is located in the Shuk 5 courtyard in Ra'anana and operates Sunday through Thursday from 17:30 to 23:00. The tortillas are also available for purchase to take home.
