Maccabi Netanya Defends Use of Saline IVs Amid Itamar Shabiro Investigation

Maccabi Netanya, currently training in Poland, addressed allegations related to the ongoing investigation into Itamar Shabiro and the use of intravenous drips (IVs) at the club. The club responded to a transcript from Shabiro's interrogation, which surfaced on Sport 5, where he claimed that the team also administered IVs to players. The club clarified that former team doctor Ahmad Biadsa, who left due to prior commitments, used a clear medical protocol involving 100 milliliters of saline solution, which is legally permitted.

Netanya officials rejected any attempt to question the professionalism of their medical staff, calling such claims "absurd." They explained that when new doctor Guy Tzarfati joined, he confirmed the practice had been observed at Partizan Belgrade, and the club consulted Bundesliga doctors to obtain an approved protocol. The club emphasized that the saline drips were administered legally and outside the training complex, with all procedures fully compliant with regulations.

Meanwhile, coach Roni Levy continues to seek reinforcements, particularly a central defender and two midfielders, focusing on wing positions. The departure of Riberto Tabarsh has left Netanya with only one winger, Oz Bilu. Owner Ross Kastin acknowledges the need to strengthen the squad further ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
