Journalist Warns of Imminent Threat to Channel 12 Reporters Amid Rising Incitement
Josh Breiner, a reporter for Haaretz, issued a stark warning on Sunday about the escalating incitement against journalists and media outlets in Israel, cautioning that it could soon lead to severe violence. Breiner specifically mentioned that those who threw a brick at Channel 12 and Haaretz receive tacit support from the government, emphasizing that such acts do not occur in a vacuum. He went further to say, "It is only a matter of time before a journalist is murdered here. I estimate it will be someone from Channel 12."
These remarks come shortly after two vandalism incidents targeting media organizations in Tel Aviv. Earlier in the week, an unidentified masked individual smashed the entrance door of Channel 12's offices with a brick. Subsequently, bricks were also thrown at the Haaretz building. In both cases, the police have launched investigations. Media outlets have condemned these attacks as part of a broader surge in violence and incitement against journalists.
Additionally, hateful graffiti was sprayed outside Channel 12's studios in Tel Aviv, and the entrance door was damaged with metal rods. The incidents highlight growing concerns about the safety of journalists amid a tense political and social climate in Israel.
