Louis Vuitton Revives Historic Classic Car Rally in Italy Ahead of Formula 1 Grand Prix
French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton is officially relaunching its historic classic car rally, now named the "Dolomites Classic Run," scheduled for September. This prestigious event marks the brand's first rally since the 2012 "Serenissima Run" and celebrates Louis Vuitton's deep-rooted connection to the automotive world, dating back to the early 20th century when it crafted leather trunks designed specifically for luxury cars.
The rally will begin near Venice at the iconic Villa Pisani along the Brenta Riviera, then proceed through a challenging 370-mile (approximately 600 kilometers) route ascending the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomite Mountains. The nostalgic convoy will culminate on September 4 at the Monza circuit, coinciding with the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. During the F1 opening ceremony, the classic cars will parade on the Autodromo Nazionale track, highlighting Louis Vuitton's current role as an official partner of the global F1 series.
Following the rally, the participating vehicles will be exhibited at Villa Reale in Monza Park for public viewing, with the official awards ceremony taking place at Castello Sforzesco in Milan. Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton's Chairman and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the event, emphasizing the brand's rich heritage as an endless source of inspiration. The rally not only revives a historic tradition but also underscores Louis Vuitton's longstanding innovation in automotive accessories, such as waterproof and dustproof trunks tailored for early automobiles.
