Many Older American Jews Feel Unsafe Following October 7 Attacks, Survey Finds

A recent AP-NORC survey reveals that many older Jewish adults in the United States feel unsafe, particularly since October 7. The findings highlight a growing sense of vulnerability within this community amid declining bipartisan support for Israel and internal disagreements among American Jews. Approximately 30% of respondents reported that they or their household members experienced physical assault, verbal abuse, online harassment, or property vandalism related to their Jewish identity in the past year. Furthermore, about 60% of those surveyed consider anti-Jewish prejudice a serious problem in the U.S. today, underscoring heightened concerns about safety and discrimination.
