Lebanese Army to Enter Areas Israel Will Withdraw From in South Lebanon Within Days

The Lebanese army has begun extensive planning to enter two areas in southern Lebanon that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will soon vacate, according to information shared with Israel. This move is part of the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon and is expected to be implemented within days. The Lebanese military is currently determining the necessary troop deployment and entry points for simultaneous entry into both zones, rather than a phased approach.

Although no exact timeline has been finalized, discussions between the two countries are scheduled for next week to finalize the details. An American official involved in the talks stated, "We have moved to the implementation phase of the framework agreement. The first pilot area will begin within a few days, with additional pilot zones under mapping and planning."

CNN reported that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has conditioned Lebanon's continued participation in negotiations with Israel on the start of the IDF's withdrawal from the occupied areas in southern Lebanon, according to a diplomatic source. This development marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to stabilize the border region and implement the agreement reached between the two nations.
