Ludogorets Nears Appointment of Thomas Reis Ahead of Conference League Clash with Hapoel Tel Aviv

Ludogorets, the Bulgarian football club set to face Hapoel Tel Aviv in the upcoming UEFA Conference League qualifiers, is close to appointing a new head coach. According to a report by Sky Germany on July 9, 2026, Thomas Reis has reached an agreement to become the club's manager, with a contract expected to last until 2028. Reis was the preferred candidate for Ludogorets, which has also finalized the composition of the coaching staff to accompany him.

The Bulgarian club hopes that the new coach will lead the team to success in the Conference League qualifiers, where they will meet Hapoel Tel Aviv. Notably, Barak Itzhaki was among the candidates considered for the coaching position, but the club ultimately chose to proceed with Reis. The appointment is anticipated to take place shortly before the crucial match against the Israeli side.
