Four Childhood Friends Graduate Together From Israeli Air Force Flight Course With Nearly Equal Success Rates for Women and Men

Forty graduates of the Israeli Air Force Flight Course 192 will receive their wings today at Hatzor Airbase. Among them are four childhood friends who attended the same high school in Modi'in and reunited during the final stage of the flight training. The course includes two female graduates, representing a 16.6% success rate for women, closely matching the 17.6% success rate for men.

The course began with 215 men and 12 women. Of those, 38 men and 2 women completed the rigorous training, which spans three years. One of the female graduates, a combat navigator from Herzliya, emphasized that there is no difference between men and women in the course and highlighted the importance of diversity within the group. Another female graduate from Tel Aviv, who will serve as a mechanic, noted the intensive nature of the training and the shared commitment of all cadets.

The four childhood friends, who enlisted separately but trained together, shared how their longstanding bond provided support throughout the demanding course. They described how having familiar faces helped them cope with the challenges of training, including long periods away from home and intense operational realities. Each invited their high school teacher to the graduation ceremony as a tribute to her significant influence and support during their formative years.

The graduates will now join various Air Force squadrons as combat navigators and transport navigators, ready to contribute to Israel's defense. The female graduates expressed their readiness to face operational challenges and their eagerness to make a meaningful impact in their military careers.
