Israeli Reporter Ohad Hamo Recalls Narrow Escape From 1980s Jerusalem Bus Bombing

Ohad Hamo, a reporter for Channel 12 specializing in Arab affairs, recounted narrowly escaping a suicide bombing on Jerusalem's bus line 18 during the 1980s. Speaking on the "Achar Ketelenu" podcast by the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Hamo described being about eight years old and traveling with his mother near Mount Herzl when the attack occurred. He explained that they boarded a crowded bus but got off approximately 50 to 100 meters before the explosion because another bus arrived. Moments after switching buses, the bomb detonated, killing the Folk sisters. Hamo contrasted this earlier attack with the more widely known 1996 bombings by Yahya Ayyash, emphasizing that such violence had occurred in Jerusalem even in the 1980s.
