Gillette Stadium in Boston Rated Best Venue for 2026 World Cup Fans, MetLife Stadium Ranks Low
As millions of football fans flock to the United States for the 2026 World Cup, a new study by price comparison platform SeatPick reveals significant differences in fan experience across the 11 host stadiums. The research evaluated six key factors affecting fan comfort and expenses: beer and water prices inside the stadium, average local accommodation costs, heat index, violent crime rates, and mosquito risk.
Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, near Boston, topped the list with an overall score of 8.08 out of 10. It stood out for its relatively low beer price of $8.58, minimal mosquito threat, and comfortable temperatures for the season. Following closely were Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (8.03) and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (7.87), the latter benefiting from the tournament's cheapest food and lodging despite high summer heat.
Seattle's Lumen Field and San Francisco's Levi's Stadium rounded out the top five. Conversely, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, set to host the World Cup final on July 19, ranked ninth with a score of 6.32. Fans face steep costs including $13 for beer, $7 for water, and an average hotel price of $593 per night. The area also has a high mosquito risk. This low ranking aligns with criticism from Brazil and France players regarding poor pitch quality.
At the bottom, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles scored 5.82, burdened by the highest beer price of $14, expensive hotels, and maximum mosquito risk. Houston's NRG Stadium ranked tenth, suffering from extreme heat reaching 47 degrees Celsius and the highest violent crime rate among the host cities.
SeatPick co-founder and CEO Gilad Zilberman emphasized that the study considered all factors impacting fan experience beyond ticket prices, highlighting the stark contrasts between host cities that could make visits either enjoyable or challenging.
