Iran Warns US It Will Bear Responsibility for Escalation After Airstrikes
Iran issued a veiled threat to the United States following extensive American airstrikes on its territory. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Washington will be held accountable for the dangerous consequences of this escalation. The strikes targeted several monitoring and control centers along Iran's southern coast, which Tehran linked to the US decision to revoke permits for Iranian oil sales, accusing Washington of violating agreements and rendering the framework deal ineffective.
Iran also condemned Israel for ongoing military aggression in Lebanon and cited developments in the Strait of Hormuz as further factors undermining the framework agreement. The US air campaign was ordered by President Donald Trump after Iran attacked three commercial ships and oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump convened an emergency meeting with top administration and security officials during the NATO summit in Turkey and authorized the strikes to impose a heavy price on Iran for breaching the ceasefire and threatening international maritime freedom in this critical trade corridor.
The situation marks a significant escalation in tensions between the US and Iran, with Tehran signaling serious repercussions for Washington's military actions and policy decisions regarding Iranian oil exports and regional security.
