Donovan Mitchell has secured his future with the Cleveland Cavaliers by signing a four-year contract extension worth $273 million, announced on July 7, 2026. The 29-year-old shooting guard's new deal includes a player option for the 2030/31 NBA season. Mitchell joined the Cavaliers in 2022 after a trade from the Utah Jazz that involved multiple players and draft picks, including Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton.

In the previous season, Mitchell averaged 27.9 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game during the regular season, and posted 26 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in the playoffs. Originally drafted in 2017 by the Denver Nuggets, he was immediately traded to Utah, where he played five seasons.
