U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech lasting just under 40 minutes at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., marking the 250th anniversary of America's independence. The event, branded as "Freedom 250," was intended as a historic unity celebration but instead became a highly charged political rally dominated by Trump’s sharp attacks on his opponents. Despite earlier claims that he would give a lengthy address to "prove he can do everything," Trump’s speech was significantly shorter than usual.

During his remarks, Trump labeled the Democratic Party’s progressive wing as "communists," calling them a "cancer" that must be cut out quickly. He warned against the spread of leftist ideology and declared communism a failure, emphasizing that American soldiers did not fight communism abroad only to see it rise in the U.S. He also took credit for recent military actions against Iran, claiming the U.S. destroyed the entire Iranian navy, consisting of 159 ships.

Trump used the platform to promote the stalled "SAVE America" bill in Congress, which would require voter ID and citizenship proof to vote, along with strict limits on mail-in ballots, aiming to prevent election fraud. The celebration faced criticism for its overt political tone, with many Democratic parties refusing to send delegations and numerous artists withdrawing from participation. Polls indicated that a majority of Americans viewed the 250th anniversary events as overly politicized.

The festivities were disrupted by extreme weather, including a record-breaking heatwave of 39 degrees Celsius and severe thunderstorms, which delayed the event by nearly two hours and forced security to move attendees indoors. Controversy also arose from the presence of the white nationalist group Patriot Front marching in Washington, though police reported no violent incidents. Despite the tensions, the remaining audience witnessed what the White House described as the largest fireworks display in U.S. history, featuring approximately 850,000 fireworks launched over the National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, accompanied by natural lightning in the sky.
