Israel Prepares for Possible Renewed Military Action in Gaza Within Months

Israeli authorities are preparing for the possibility of resuming military operations in the Gaza Strip. Reports indicate that within two to three months, the Quartet on the Middle East may declare Hamas in violation of their current agreement, potentially allowing Israel to significantly expand its military activities. This declaration would enable Israel to operate in areas currently under Hamas control without the existing restrictions, effectively paving the way for a broader conflict if Hamas does not disarm.

Despite suffering heavy losses and territorial reduction during recent conflicts, Hamas is believed to be strengthening, rearming, and maintaining control over parts of Gaza. Israeli political circles consider voluntary disarmament unlikely, suggesting that military action may be unavoidable. A political source told Channel 12 News that the UN envoy Tor Wennesland had planned to declare Hamas in breach of the agreement two months ago but postponed the move at the request of mediators to give Hamas time to comply.

The source added that if no change occurs within the next two to three months, likely by September, Wennesland will announce Hamas as violators of the agreement. This step could clear the path for the Israel Defense Forces to launch a large-scale military campaign in Gaza once again.
