Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Marry in Iconic Madison Square Garden Ceremony
Pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce, both 36, officially married overnight between Friday and Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The announcement was made public around 7:30 p.m. local time when a giant screen outside the venue displayed "JUST&T MARRIED!" Swift's longtime publicist, Terri Paine, confirmed the news and revealed that actor and comedian Adam Sandler officiated the wedding. Swift's brother Austin served as her Man of Honor, while Kelce's brother Jason was his best man.
Swift walked down the aisle wearing a custom haute couture gown by Jonathan Anderson for Christian Dior, with Kelce also dressed in a couture Dior suit by Anderson. Both wore Christian Louboutin shoes, and Swift accessorized with Cartier jewelry. The multi-day wedding event began leaking through police documents and city permits obtained by the New York Times and AP. The rehearsal dinner took place Thursday evening at the Infosys Theater inside Madison Square Garden, attended by about 100 guests including celebrities Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, Bradley Cooper, and Lena Dunham.
The couple donated $26 million to over a dozen charities across the U.S. The wedding ceremony started at 5 p.m. local time, followed by a party that lasted until 4 a.m. Guests included Ed Sheeran, Jessica Chastain, Dakota Johnson, Hugh Grant, Karlie Kloss, George Kittle, Matthew Dickinson, TV hosts George Stephanopoulos and Graham Norton, and numerous NFL stars. Strict security measures were enforced, including no mobile phones allowed, non-disclosure agreements for guests, snipers on rooftops, police helicopters, and street closures. Guest vehicles were hidden in large white tents to avoid paparazzi and fan attention.
Choosing Madison Square Garden, primarily known for Knicks and Rangers games and major concerts, surprised many but was a strategic move to handle complex security needs. Celebrity wedding planner Mark Seed managed the production. The Empire State Building was lit blue in honor of Swift, following a tradition to protect the bride from the evil eye. The wedding comes less than a year after their August 2025 engagement, announced humorously on Instagram. Their relationship began in July 2023 after Kelce unsuccessfully tried to give Swift his phone number during a Missouri concert. Since then, Swift has been a regular at Kelce’s games, including his team’s 2024 Super Bowl win, and he has accompanied her on world tours and award shows. Swift’s latest album, "The Life of a Showgirl," released last fall, contains several songs inspired by her now-husband.
