Israeli Guard Yam Madar Rejects Maccabi Tel Aviv's Offer, Proposes Counterdeal
Israeli guard Yam Madar has declined the championship team Maccabi Tel Aviv's contract offer and submitted a counterproposal. Madar's offer includes a three-year contract worth $2.5 million with an option for two additional years, where the decision to continue after three years would be his. Maccabi Tel Aviv insists on their original offer, which includes two options: a five-year contract with no club exit clause but a player exit option after the third year at $1.8 million per season, or a three-year contract with a higher salary plus a two-year option.
Madar activated his exit clause from Hapoel Tel Aviv last Tuesday and has been negotiating with Maccabi Tel Aviv while also holding talks with Ofer Yanai, who has offered him a higher salary of about $3 million per season. Hapoel Tel Aviv awaits Madar's decision but has already begun searching for a replacement player. Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv has finalized terms with their player Tamir Blatt, who is expected to earn approximately $1.7 million per season. The club does not condition Blatt's signing on Madar's decision and has made it clear that both players can play together, with coach Itoudis planning to assign Blatt a role similar to Yiftach Ziv's but with significantly more playing time. Hapoel Tel Aviv must also decide whether to finalize Blatt's signing.
