Israeli Government Approves Additional Funding for October 7 Gaza Envelope Party Survivors
The Israeli government is set to approve a new resolution expanding and updating the support framework for survivors of the parties held in the Gaza Envelope on October 7. This follows an initial decision made in February 2024. The updated plan allocates approximately 60.5 million shekels to be distributed between 2026 and 2028.
Data shows that out of 728 survivors who applied for the "Public Committee Grant" for victims of October 7, only 144 have actually utilized the dedicated rehabilitation package provided to them. This significant gap highlights, according to the resolution's authors, the necessity for an active support system rather than merely granting entitlements on paper.
The decision aims to ensure more effective assistance and rehabilitation for survivors, emphasizing ongoing accompaniment and practical aid beyond formal eligibility. The government’s approval will enable the implementation of this enhanced support structure in the coming years.
