Irish actor Colin Farrell reminisced about a memorable encounter with football legend Diego Maradona in Buenos Aires in 2005, describing it as one of the best nights of his life. Farrell shared the story during an appearance on James Corden's After Hours, which focused on alternative World Cup stories. Filming Miami Vice in Uruguay had been delayed by a week, allowing Farrell and his father, a former professional footballer visiting the set for the first time, to travel to Buenos Aires. Farrell had long admired Maradona since watching the 1986 World Cup, calling him a personal hero.

The night began with Farrell and his father dining and later going to a nightclub where a commotion at the entrance caught their attention. Maradona appeared, described by Farrell as a "poetic genius" standing 1.65 meters tall. The two quickly struck up a conversation, culminating in a famous photo of Farrell wearing Maradona's shirt and sharing a kiss on the lips.
