Bnei Aliyah Tchernobil Yeshiva Students Celebrate Oral Mastery of Baba Kama in Ashdod
On Tuesday, the 15th of Tammuz 5786, corresponding to the yahrzeit of the holy Or HaChaim, the Bnei Aliyah Tchernobil yeshiva for young men in Ashdod held a grand and impressive event honoring Torah study and the efforts of its students. This historic ceremony marked the completion of an intensive study cycle of the entire tractate Baba Kama, culminating months of deep learning, diligent effort, and comprehensive oral review. The students were successfully examined on the entire tractate in the traditional dialectical method (shakla v’tarya), demonstrating thorough and clear knowledge.
The event began with heartfelt remarks from the spiritual director, Rabbi Yitzchak Aharon Cohen Gross, who praised all those who contributed to the success of the extensive review. He then invited the yeshiva head, Rabbi Pinchas Naftali Grinwald, to address the assembly. Rabbi Grinwald emphasized the significance of the occasion and the power of perseverance, which yielded such impressive results in the students' mastery of the tractate.
Rabbi Shimon Siruka, a senior lecturer at the yeshiva, also spoke, expressing admiration for the students' dedication and their pursuit of perfect knowledge of every page. The highlight of the event was the central "siyum" (completion ceremony) of Baba Kama, conducted in a sacred and uplifting atmosphere, led by the Rebbe. The Rebbe delivered holy words and blessings to all gathered in honor of the students' tireless Torah efforts. Following this, the students received personal blessings, and the crowd erupted into a spontaneous, joyous dance celebrating the completion of the study.
The main address was given by Rabbi Chaim Meir David Grossman, a renowned preacher, who praised the students as exemplary Torah workers of the generation, enhancing the honor of the yeshiva and the entire Torah world. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of prestigious certificates of excellence, valuable holy books, and dozens of silver trophies engraved personally, awarded by the Rebbe and his son, Rabbi Shmuel Moshe Tversky, the rabbi of the Tchernobil Hasidim. The event ended with a strong sense of fulfillment and a commitment to continue advancing in Torah and Hasidic studies.
