On July 5th (17th of Tammuz), a Torah reading took place aboard an El Al flight traveling from New York to Israel. Rabbi Leizer (Louis) Shiner brought a Torah scroll onto the plane and led the congregation in the reading of the portion 'Va'etchanan,' serving as the third aliyah and concluding the reading.
