Iran Approves Special Arrangement for Jewish Students Taking Final Exams on Sabbath
The Iranian Ministry of Education has approved a special arrangement for Jewish students who observe the Sabbath and are required to take their official final exams on that day. Due to the exams being scheduled on Saturday, the Jewish community reached an agreement with authorities allowing school secretaries to write the exam answers on behalf of observant students, thereby preventing Sabbath desecration.
The Tehran Jewish Association officially announced the arrangement, crediting Ilan Mishalian, head of the association's scientific and educational committee, for negotiating with the Ministry of Education. This accommodation applies to Jewish students across Iran and will be provided free of charge. It does not require approval from the Welfare Ministry but only prior notification to school administrations.
The statement clarified that rescheduling the nationwide final exams was not possible due to systemic time constraints. This procedure has been in place in previous years and aims to respect religious observance while maintaining exam integrity.
