Yaki Edmeker Condemns Nitzan Alon's Policy on Hamas as Proven False
During a broadcast on Channel 14's program "The Patriots," panelist Yaki Edmeker sharply criticized Nitzan Alon, former head of the IDF's Prisoners and Missing Persons Division. Edmeker accused Alon of promoting a policy of refraining from military pressure on Hamas, which he said was completely disproven. According to Edmeker, only a decisive military operation led to the release of hostages held by Hamas.
Edmeker also addressed statements Alon made to the media during the conflict, describing them as "infuriating and outrageous." He referenced Alon's briefings to journalists and media outlets, where Alon claimed that under the current government, no hostage deal could be executed. Edmeker emphasized that Alon was part of the most sensitive forum dealing with the war at that time.
Edmeker stated that Alon's policy, which pressured the political echelon not to apply "maximum" military pressure on Hamas out of concern for hostage safety, was proven false. He asserted that only when the political leadership launched Operation Gideon 2 did Hamas break, leading to the release of all hostages. This critique comes amid ongoing debate about the military and political handling of the hostage crisis.
